Huzzah, here’s to the EIGTH Day of Shecurity Conference, happening today on HopIn. There are over 1,000 women from across the tech spectrum registered to attend a day full of free talks, training, networking, and panels.

Having been with Day of Shecurity as a Founding organizer since the first full conference, here are my suggestions for getting the most out of your day.

• Visit EVERY sponsor – these companies and orgs signed up for a reason. They have opportunities for you and they will be thrilled to chat about anything and everything. Some of them even have featured speakers during certain times in their booths, or giveaways for visiting.
• Pick two or three talks and REALLY attend them. Silence your notifications, don’t check your email or instagram. Just sit still and take it in. There is SO much wisdom and knowledge up for grabs here, its a shame not to take in some of it.
• Be social! There are chat boxes all over HopIn. Whether its the General chat, the sessions, a sponsor booth, or a 1 on 1 networking session, there are dozens of ways to connect in the conference. If you don’t see a convo about something you want to discuss, start one! 🙂
• Rep the con. Events like these can only happen thanks to the engagement of our attendees and the support of our sponsors. None of that happens if no one knows about how awesome these conferences can be for your professional development! Remember to use the tag @dayofshecurity and the hashtag #dayofshecurity on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and anywhere else you do socials.

I am always down to connect and discuss anything you heard at the event. Increasing the representation of women in cybersecurity means making women feel like they have a community to be a part of. If you’re at the con today, congrats you found it!
